Compare
Before You Retain: In the world of civil litigation,
knowledge, skill and experience can make the difference
in efficiency and success. I have over 25 years
experience in Nevada civil litigation involving businesses,
contracts, corporate and partnership disputes, real estate,
negligence, fraud and other
matters. I have also handled agency hearings and appeals.
(I do not practice criminal law, family law, civil rights, bankruptcy law
or employment/labor law.)
It
is my goal to provide personal and conscientious attention
to my clients' matters, at all times trying to keep my clients'
best interest (and budget) in mind. Although I am willing and
able to take on the opposition in court, I encourage my clients
to always be open to a reasonable settlement if such opportunity
can be attained. Skilled negotiation can often produce better
and quicker outcomes. I also offer private mediation and arbitration
services.
Many
attorneys take
on legal work in a multitude of areas, with civil litigation
just one area, perhaps even a side practice. Moreover, if you
retain a firm with multiple attorneys, unless you are an established
client with substantial matters (and perhaps even if you are),
your case may be assigned to an associate attorney with relatively
little experience.
Before you retain an attorney, or firm, ask the attorney representative
who speaks to you: Who will be working on the case? What is
their experience in civil litigation? What other areas do they
practice in? What will be the goals? Are they encouraged to
provide high billable hours?
